I Am Legend

So, last night, I've finally finished watching I Am Legend. It's a Korean TV series that stars Kim Jung Eun. It ran in 16 episodes. But what I love the most out of it is that it's not the too mushy type love story of a TV drama like the Winter Sonata. Another thing I love about it that Kim Jung Eun here is a part of a rock band. Stories around rock bands has this special appeal on me. This also proves that point of why I've actually have an unconditional love for Kaikan Phrase, less the smut. This is one of the few Korean TV series that I've watched. I'm more fond of Japanese and Taiwanese TV series because I really have a hard time remembering Korean names so I usually end up calling them up names instead. Like in this case, I call the husband, "idiot husband" and call the other guy "kuya pogi," which translates to, "handsome brother".

I Am Legend is about a woman named Jun Seol Hee who married into a rich and prestigious family. But 5 years after her marriage, she grew tired of living her life like a lie. She wasn't happy with being emotionally bullied by her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law. And her husband being such an idiotic bastard, who instead of taking her side, insults her even more. To make things even more worse, his husband doesn't sleep with her, but stays at his officetel instead. Her only consolation left of her, was her all girl rock band that she's been together with since high school. Finally, one day, she woke up to the truth and decided that she would divorce her husband, of course with the help of a reality slap of a major event in her life. But since his husband is such a celebrity, to save his and his family's face, he refused divorcing her until they reached to court. While on the process of divorcing her husband, Seol Hee was trying hard to forget about bad memories and reorganize her life the way she wanted to together with her band and their dream of becoming professional musicians.

Para Kang by 1:43

Since I'm the only one in the lot who has the actual album with full lyrics in my hands, and autographed too, if I may add, I was required and demanded by Jepoy, who's a super 1:43 fanboy to post the lyrics of his current favorite song.

Para Kang

Performed by 1:43
Lyrics and Music  by Jojo Panaligan
Arranged by Jonathan Ong of SonicStudio
Vocal Arrangement and Backup by Myrhus Apacible

Chorus
Para kang panaginip na natupad
Eroplanong papel na limilipad
Magic wand at kissing spell
Falling star sa wishing well, at diba...
PAra kang regalo t'wing Pasko
Swimming sa may beach kung Mayo
Lahat nagkatotoo
pagdating mo

* Repeat Chorus

Di na kailangan ng kung anu-ano
At di na ako umasa
Sa iba (sa iba)
Ikaw na (ikaw na)
At di ba

* Repeat Chorus

Para Kang is a song by 1:43 (pronounced as "one-forty three"), a four-male boy group in the Philippines who's like a Filipino version of the Taiwanese F4 (JVKV), less Meteor Garden and the whole acting thing. Though they're becoming more and more popular to the teenage appeal because of the whole K-pop fever, I still think that they give more of the F4 feel than the K-pop ones. Anyway, this song is included in a 5 song album called Time For Love.

Time For Love

Remember 1:43? That's right. They're the guys that hit the internet with a viral wave due to their very first single Merry Christmas Na that disturbed and amused a few prominent bloggers like Ade, RJ, Helga, Rico and turned a few heads into fanboying like Jepoy.

To start off with, let's have a little introduction and recap of things.

1:43, pronounced, like the time, "one-forty three," is a 4-male boy group in the Philippines who's managed by Chris Cahilig Talent Services. The four young boys of the group are Yuki Sakamoto, Kim Nicolas, Goldmon Aquino and Anjo Resurrection. They recently released their first album called Time For Love under MCA Music, Inc.

So, last Saturday at ToyCon 2011, I met the entire 1:43 group (less Kim Nicolas who was not present that day) and acquired an autographed album from them, and for my bragging rights that I really have to add, with a "♥ Euri" written by Yuki below his signature too.

They were really nice, and were all really tall (poor me that's so freaking small, despite the 4 inches platform boots I'm wearing T_T). And oh! I got myself a picture with the manager too! :3

I've listened to the entire album during my free time, the following days. And I thought of blogging about my mixed emotions about it.

I do not know how the teenagers of these days came to love Justin Bieber, and I start to wander whatever happened to "real" music, when I started hearing this song from Rebecca Black. Thankfully though, Lady Gaga was a bomb, and that you'll still feel that there's still hope for music with Bruno Mars and the others. But you know, back when I was in grade school, Nirvana, Incubus, X Japan, Luna Sea, Eraserheads, Rivermaya, etc. these were the "in" thing. So now, it's the era of K-pop and here we have popping out different K-pop groups. And since it's the "in" thing now, boy groups such as XLR8 (I hope I got that right) and 1:43 appears.

Going to my album review, Time For Love, is a mini-album. It's only composed of 5 songs, all original, and these 5 songs' minus one, for the rest of the tracks. I admit that I kind of chuckled a bit about the minus one thing, because the last time I bought an album with minus one included in it, was back in the days of cassette tapes.

I can't really understand Korean, so I'm not sure about the K-pop song lyrics goes, but I'll have you know that the song lyrics of this album is a bit too corny for my taste. I'm also not fond of the Tag-lish style of song lyrics because it adds more to the corny feel in it. Perhaps if I'm a normal high school student, I would bite it, but I suppose older generations has different tastes.

On to the bright side, however, I like the melody a lot. They're the type of songs you'll hum all throughout the day skipping, typical of a boy band song. And even if the song lyrics are too corny, you'll end up singing it, regardless. One good example was Andrew (Siopao Master) who kept singing Para Kang over and over again, even though he laughs at how corny the lyrics was.

And lastly, about the vocals, they really need to work on this. They don't sound bad, but they don't sound that great either. It's more like a so-so kind. I've seen videos of them performing live, and they sound the same as they do on CD, sometimes, a little off. I kind of understand them though, it's really not easy to sing in front of many people. I used to sing on stage too, back in high school, being forced to join singing contests and such. They may not be as perfect as how Boyz II Men sings acapella, but at least they probably can do better than what they can do today, with a little more practice, a little coaching or voice lesson somewhere, and confidence to stand in front of a crowd of people singing.

Thanks to Jepoy and Andrew for the pictures!

Pepsi: Pinas!

Last Friday, my house-mate Carla, shared me this video of Pepsi: Pinas commercial. It was really funny. They imitated action scenes from the old school Philippine movies. The protagonist chases the antagonist down, while the antagonist hostages someone/holds something in his possession (in this case, it's the Pepsi: Pinas). They exchange gun shots and shouts to each other. They even use popular lines from the old movies like "Tapos na ang mga maliligayang araw mo!" and "Pati butas ng karayom papasukin ko!" Even their physical aspects and getups are similar – the long haired cop in jeans, wearing denim jacket with white bandanna on the head; and the criminal with mustache and usually wearing mafia type clothing. And of course, that classic evil laugh is exactly the same!

After watching, I went fangirling and added Alvarez Parak (protagonist) and Boy Balbon (antagonist) in facebook and continued on fangirling and spreading the video all over.

Then, the other day, Carla brought home a bottle of Pepsi: Pinas. It tasted just like the my old favorite cola, Pepsi Blue, that disappeared when I was in mid college. She put it in the fridge while we all watched TV. We were supposed to take a picture of it, and post in in her blog. But then, Drake, the 2 1/2 year old toddler at home, was screaming like crazy wanting that bottle of Pepsi: Pinas. When he got a hold of it, he was like jumping around the place dancing while drinking it. So cute! x3

Lucky Star

I was chatting with a friend earlier who told me that Animax Philippines will be airing Lucky Star tomorrow (June 8th, 2011). He said that the show will run from Mondays to Fridays at around 7:30PM (GMT+8). Then I suddenly had a momentary rewind. A few years back in Kawaii Heavens, I was first introduced to Lucky Star through staff and members that often use their avatars around the forums. I remembered there were also a few groups who scanlate them too, like the Lucky Star: Comic a la Carte, for example. It's quite popular around our group since we cater mostly around the same type of anime/manga/games (as you can see with my Rimu-chan layout).

Lucky Star is a short, often humorous, comic strip (something like Peanuts). But rather than seeing it at the back of newspapers, it's inside Japanese shounen magazines. It's basically about the random lives of 4 loli-styled high school characters – Izumi Konata, the main protagonist who's a lazy otaku; the twins Hiiragi Kagami and Tsukasa who's personalities are totally different; and Takara Miyuki the ojou-sama. The comic strips doesn't really give off any plot, but I guess it will be different for the anime. This particular series was really popular over the years and had doujins and parodies all over, as well as memes, too. It's probably due of the humor and the loli style that hits the bull's eye for most Otaku. What was that term Nicky (npal) used to say? ...Ah! "delicious loli."

Personally, I think it's cute and interesting (not to mention that I'm almost a pedobear follower, myself) to watch because of the interesting personalities of the characters, and well, for the most part of it, the randomness. You might be interested in watching. Scratch that. No, I demand you to watch or Pedobear will creep under your blanket while you sleep! XD

Oh, and an obligatory Konata sleeping face! x3

Revamp, Finally!

Beyond Eternal will be a bit messy this coming days/ weeks/ hopefully, will not reach months, but I can't really promise. I'm doing a major revamp. I'll be moving stuff here and there and re-organize the blog as a whole. I'm planning on trashing a few stuff that aren't really contributing to the site as a whole, not that this blog has any real purpose than being a blog or anything. So you might see things here and there that aren't working. I'll be working on them as I get to it page by page. I'm being serious about this mass revamping, too.

Say good luck to me, that I do not procrastinate half way, again. XD

Relationships

Someone told me that I'm "just afraid of (romantic) relationships."

Well, I’m not sure about that. Rather than being afraid, I think it’s more like a bother. I find relationships too troublesome and annoying that's why I prefer being single.

Oh and contrary to most people, it's not about the ex or a bad experience with the previous relationship. Yah, it didn't work out. I didn't find my ex such a douche to warrant him a good bad mouthing from me either. It's more of a his and her circumstances, so I don't really know what was going on with his mind. I might've hurt him, but I didn't know. And I got hurt too, but he wasn't aware. In my opinion though, it's just a difference between our beliefs and such and that I was being clingy and needing more attention that I was getting. And it just ended like that.

I don't know if it's just me, but this is how I really think. Whether people believe it or not, I don't particularly need to care, do I? Or should I?

My relationship status and whatnot. Why does it matter to people, anyway?
